The brick grill has fallen - finally

Ok, so my wife really disliked the brick grill - seen in background here of an older photo.  Apparently me offering to clean out the lizards and other creatures was not adequate.

I finished taking it apart a week or so ago and below is how things look now. Patience with a 3 lb hammer, cold chisel, shovel and wheel barrow is all that was really needed.  Oh, I almost forgot to add some additional needs - Ibuprofen or naproxen since this takes a toll on ones back.  The remaining bricks are all stacked on the utility trailer out back until I can figure out how I want to get rid of them.

I still need to find a way to dispose of about half the bricks.  I was mildly surprised to find a layer of sand under the brick fireplace.  I don't know how deep it is yet - at least 2-3" since there are still bricks below the concrete deck surface.  I'll probably just concrete the spot and resurface the deck in areas.

I will admit to be very tired of the constant projects required to get this house into a reasonable state.  The list does get shorter a little bit each month or 2 but when you must spend all your (non-existent) spare time just fixing stuff and never enjoying your family - it wears you down.  Hoping we get all the big stuff done "soon".

Matthew 11:28-30 New American Standard Bible (NASB)

28 Come to Me, all [a]who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For My yoke is [b]easy and My burden is light.”
